Last year, I was talking with my mom about parenting and she said "well at least I never made you feel like I didn't love you"
I proceeded to tell her about a time when I was a kid and she was yelling, screaming, and throwing things, and I said "I love you" in that small timid kid voice and she said
"well I don't love you right now"
Our relationship was never the same after that and she didn't even remember that it happened.

In OG, she only realizes he was there when she sees it revealed in the LS and that’s when she says he had indeed kept his promise. The scene you might be remembering of her seeing him or being awake might be from Last Order (the anime) but that isn’t canon. I hope that clears things up a bit. Happy new year!
Now i’m a bit confused because i remember SO clearly that in Crisis Core Original, that Tifa is just awake enough to see Cloud and then faints again…but i’ve the whole ff7-community telling me that i’m wrong…
